Even the most iconic of relationships can end as this is very true for Speedo and Swimming Australia (SAL). After 60 years together the 2 groups have decided to amicably part ways, while Speedo remains on as a sponsor of the Australian Olympic team through to 2028.
It may be weird to see the Australian Dolphins wearing a different brand as they dive into the pool in Tokyo, but in the spirit of good sportsmanship we must muster on!
A speedo was first worn by the Australian Swim Team at the Melbourne Olympics in 1956. Incidentally, Australia won every international event there.
While the relationship is being marked as “one of the country’s most successful” by Chief Executive Mark Anderson, a new relationship for the next 4 years has been created and will be announced in the new year.
Graham Eyres, the Brand Manager at Speedo Australia has said that it has been “a privilege” to be partnered with the Australian team for the past 6 decades and committed to continuing to invest in swimming all the way from grassroots all the way up to world elite!
