We have some exciting news to share. PrEP in Canada will be going generic, which means that the cost to access PrEP is expected to drop by 65% to 75%, actual costs are still to be determined.
Delivery dates are expected the earliest as late July possibly early August.
Here are some things you need to do & consider first! Right now is a good time.
- Go see your doctor, tell them that you wish to start PrEP. Blood work needs to be completed so you are then ready to start PrEP as soon as the new generic medication is available.
If you need a doctor do a search for “local HIV PrEP PEP clinics” in your area. If you are one of our readers in the Toronto area, we encourage you to visit The Village Pharmacy PrEP resource here.
If you need to get tested, ask your doctor when you got to see them or visit an STI Testing Clinic in your area. Do a google search if you are not familiar with the locations of STI Testing Clinics in your area.
Again, Toronto readers can visit this resource published by The Village Pharmacy
