Forget to pack your clothes?

Greig Bannatyne, who you see pictured to the right, was taking part in a charity swim across Lake Malawi with his swim team, MADSWIMMER.

From what we understand, he showed up on the side of the lake where the swim was starting and he was ready to go. Speedo on – check! Flip flops – check! Let’s go!

The problem arose when Greig got to the other side of the lake, got out and now would need to take a boat and a plane to get back home. Speedo – check! Flip flops – check! Suitcase…..err what?

Somehow I didn’t get this memo and everyone else had made sure they had a top and shorts to throw on for the six-hour boat trip back. So while we enjoyed our victory beers, I was still in my SpeedosGreig Bannatyne

As you can see here, Greig Bannatyne standing in the check in area at the Malawi airport taking with some very confused airport staff that were trying to wrap their heads around what was really going on.

They must have thought he was “mad”.

It was on my way to passport control that I was asked by the police a couple of questions. They were very friendly and we went to a room where they were trying to understand what I was doing. Unfortunately as we didn’t have any official papers validating this, they requested that I put my top and shorts on
So being the good buddies his MADSWIMMER team mates are, they did NOT lend him some trousers, shorts or even a shirt to go home. They instead promised they would make more donations to the cause if he travelled all the way home in his speedo.

The fact remains that even though Greig Bannatyne had to cover up, as officials were not convinced that the charity swim was an actual event, the escapade reportedly managed to raise $2500 for charity.

Security check at the airport should be a breeze.

I would still think it prudent if I gave him a gentle “pat down” 😉
