Welcome to Episode 087, dedicated to Speedo Appreciation Day. Yup you got that right. September 25th, 2015 was Speedo Appreciation Day.
Hopefully you didn’t miss out on our Speedo Appreciation Day Photo Essay complete with many hot photos of dudes in their speedos!
We certainly were geared up in our speedos for recording and for the entire actual Speedo Appreciation Day.
If you spent the day in your speedo, send us photos or post them on twitter @turnipsStyle with #speedo so we can take a look!
Of course we had to discuss the Origins of the Speedo. Seemed like a good place to start.
The company, which was founded by Alexander MacRae, a Scot living in Australia, started as a factory that produced socks during World War I. It wasn’t until 1928 that they began making swimwear and produced the first non-wool suit.
Australia’s Daily Telegraph is reporting that “Blokes are Back in Speedos” which is more than alright with us. However, our good friend of the show, @RTCruiser, says that blokes are still wearing lots of board shorts at the beach. How disappointing.
But since David Beckham unveiled his six pack in a pair of Speedos for H&M in April, retailers have seen a boom in sales and predict we will see more budgie-smugglers on the sand this summer.
Contact! We finally go some contact! Thanks to; DrumMajorKev, AC301, MooseP and JoeZ for dropping us a line. Hearing from you guys is important to us.
We continued our discussion from our previous episode about gay men socializing and cruising. We found a great article, “Grindr Fatigue and the Dehumanization of Gay Men” which offered a great perspective and helped UrbanGuyTO make his point.
This, unfortunately, plays into a darker side of our psyche that takes an unfiltered and inhumane approach to human interaction where the user treats other users like players in a sexual video game.
This was Bisexual Awareness Week and there was a ton of extra activity all over Twitter, Facebook and other Internet and Social Media channels.
What did you do for Bisexual Awareness Week. What feedback do you have to share?
