A long time native of Toronto, Canada, UrbanGuyTO (SpandexGear) was invited by turnipHed to begin blogging about their mutual interest in LGBT issues, men’s underwear and swimwear! Loud, often opinionated you’ll always find UrbanGuyTO ready to engage in a friendly and open, non-judgemental discussion about any fetish, kink and sex-positive topic of interest to the LGBT community.

In a few short weeks Toronto will host WorldPride 2014.
It is a very exciting time for everyone here in Toronto’s gay community.
Toronto has always had a vibrant and diverse LGBT community, but an event like WorldPride really brings out the best in Toronto’s various communities and there is a strong desire to see everyone have a good time.
I have planned the entire time off work and to be able to stroll, socialize and enjoy the atmosphere of the city during this great event.
URBANGUYTO’S PRIDE ROSTER OF EVENTS
Friday June 13 – Annual Friendship BBQ
A private annual event hosted by a good friend and mentor from the Toronto Out & Out Activities club. A perfect example of how close the LGBT community can be, our host always invites a fresh crowd and offers up great conversation while enjoying great food and wine.
Gear: Probably commando in some shorts.
Friday June 13 – turnipHed’s “Summer” Birthday
A “new” tradition for me, turnipHed likes to enjoy a summer birthday since his falls in the deep of winter. Its a great time to relax and enjoy some fun with my good friend.
Gear: Probably none. Go figure eh?
Friday June 20 – OFFICIAL START OF WORLD PRIDE / PRIDE48 LIVE STREAMING WEEKEND
I will be putting aside any World Pride activies to sit down with turnipHed and broadcast our first LIVE podcast of the Voice of turnipStyle at Pride48‘s annual Live Steaming Weekend.
Join turnipHed and I at 1AM Saturday June 21 EDT over at Pride48 for the LIVE show!
Gear: Podcast with your pants off!
Wednesday June 25 – THE RUBGY PLAYER
Toronto’s LGBT rugby team, Muddy York hosts a fundraising event with a showing of THE RUGBY PLAYER.
I am sure there will be beer and jockstrap talk after the movie over at Toronto’s Black Eagle. 😉
Gear: Something over a jockstrap – but not too much.
Thursday June 26 – Voice of turnipStyle
We are thinking about doing a special “Pride” theme show that night. So look for it to be posted sometime after Thursday.
Gear: Are you new? Naked.
Saturday June 28 – PRIDE STREETFAIR
In the morning I will be walking the Pride and Remembrance Run with turnipHed. Please sponsor us!
It has become an annual event for me and this will be turnipHed’s victorious return to the race after another tough year with his health.
The run is great way to kick off the weekend in a meaningful way while having a lot of fun right in the heart of the LGBT community.
The rest of the day I will be hosting the Out & Out Activities Club booth at the Pride Festival where we will be giving out flyers and information about our club. It is another great way to meet new people and show them how much fun Toronto boys (and girls) can be!
Gear: Something tight. Probably spandex shorts, my gear for choice when out and about.
Sunday June 29 – PRIDE PARADE
It promises to be the biggest event Toronto will see this summer. The parade route is longer than it has ever been and will be lines with thousands of people. This year’s theme is RISE UP!
All during the parade and into the evening my partner and I will be hosting an open house for all our friends. It is another great way to keep in touch and meet up with our friends. Besides, the streets, restaurants and bars are so busy everyone goes looking for somewhere to enjoy the post-parade bliss!
Gear: Probably host in my speedo.
Monday June 30 – SLEEP!
Ha! It proves to be a great Pride this year in Toronto. If you are going to be around Toronto during Pride make sure you let us know what you thought about the festival and the activities here in Toronto!
Gear: I sleep naked, you would know that if you listened to the Voice of turnipStyle
