You Are Not Going to Shut Me Up
Silence can say more then a thousand words.This day shall unite us all about this unbelievable painful & shocking event and show some respect and love to those who lost their loved ones.On April 30th 2007, the Blogosphere will hold a One-Day Blog Silence in honor towards the victims of Virginia. 33 died at the US college massacre.The Blogosphere is in deep mourning.All you have to do is spread the word about it and post the graphic on your blog on 30th April 2007. No words and no comments. Just respect and empathy.
You might find this in a bit contradictory to one of my previous postings and then the follow up posting so I am going to take this opportunity to explain a bit more.
Last year on 11 September I was not quiet; I didn't blog because I didn't really have much to say about it. I wanted to give you something to think about and hopefully brew some emotion inside of you that would cause you to do SOMETHING.
This is what I did on 11 September of last year;
- I kissed the man I was dating because I live in a free society where I can kiss the man I am dating and not have to be hidden
- I listened to the music I wanted to listen to, both at home and on the street with my iPod
- I danced
- I wiggled
- I ate
- I hugged my friends that I saw on the street
- I rented movies
- I went for beer, wings and nachos with my friends
- I gave thanks for the sun coming up
- I gave thanks for the hurt that I was feeling that day
- I gave thanks for the joy that I was feeling that day
- I gave thanks that I was ME.
So while those that think that silence will solve our problems I am going to be out there, listening to music, dancing, hugging and kissing my loved ones, watching WHAT I WANT TO WATCH, going for beer, wings and nachos.
I am going to give thanks for the sun coming up, for the hurt that I feel, for the joy that I feel.
I am not going to stop my life. I am not going to stop celebrating life. I am not going to starve.
I do understand that people feel that a moment/day of silence shows reverence and respect and I can actually feel where they are coming from.
It saddens me that silence has me recall;
and those are just off the top of my head.
Yet, my desire when I think about those that have fallen fighting for the freedoms that I have right now or have fallen at the hand of those that want to take away the freedom, love, acceptance, desires, encouragement that I feel day-to-day, I need to exercise that freedom, love, acceptance, desires, encouragement and let it OUT.
I will not be silent, I will not hush up, I will not sit in the corner, I will not cower.
I will be loud, I will be out there and I will STAND PROUD.
