Working the Red Eye

Sleepy TimeWell I have to work a red eye tonight and I was not looking forward to it. They tend to be really boring unless you have a good book. Why I say bring a good book? Well everyone in the cabin is sleeping and there isn't anything else to do.

They are also really hard on you because you are awake when your body is screaming at you that you should be sleeping.

I do like them for the fact though that I get good credit for the pairing in a lesser number of days. So a few of those a month and I reduce the amount of days I have to work and increase the number of days off I get.

Even though I love my job, I am all about the days off!

So I was not looking forward to it but about 30 minutes ago I received a text message from another flight attendant that picked up the same red eye that I am working on tonight!

Her and I worked together about 3 weeks ago and damn did we ever have fun - I am so looking forward to work tonight! YIPPEE!

Just wonder if anyone will be cutting their toe-nails on the flight tonight?

I'm with you, and much prefer working a red-eye.

Part of it is just that it's much less work --- less service, people are sleeping so they aren't as cranky, and it's a good time to bring a book or some paperwork and get it done.

But there is nothing, and I do mean nothing, better than working a red-eye with a pal. In my case, my best friend and I frequently work a red-eye together, and people refer to us as the Evil Twins.

Well I just got home - and this time I took notes during the red-eye and tonight's flight back to base. So tomorrow during my day off I will be sharing some «events» that happened!

But I will sum it all up that I had a BLAST. If they were all like this I would be so hooked on just red-eyes!
