Welcome To The Dark Ages
As I eluded to during last week’s Gang Bang Episode on ArcherRadio we were facing a potential labour disruption by city/civil employees. Well it happened.
What concerns me is that no action as been taken to deal with the garbage collection issue and the apparent lack of concern by the government with regard to health issues. Hence the title of the post.
We have heat advisories issued and yet it is supposed to be acceptable to let garbage rot on the streets of Canada’s largest city?
I did not realise that one of the “benefits” of this strike would be that we would get a complimentary trip back in time when raw sewage and garbage was left in the streets.
We already have a racoon and rat issue with normal garbage collection, never mind a strike disrupting the collection of said garbage.
Now I am not taking sides here at all, some of the things that union is asking for is in my opinion WAY out in left field and some of what they are asking for is reasonable. I still hate unions no matter what…but yet I see why they exist.
Here is another issue or rather question I have…
If the City of Toronto can go around and “shrink wrap” all the public garbage/recycling receptacles (such as pictured above) and place an “out of order sign” on them I want to know; What workers did that? Where did that money come from? What was the point? Why could they plan for that and not a contingency plan to take care of garbage collection.
Tomorrow the City is going to announce temporary dumping grounds for city residents to dump their garbage. According to the news one of those places is a public park.
REALLY? A public park where people go walking, jogging, toss a ball is now supposed to be a temporary garbage dump!?!? FUCK OFF!
I guess my main point really is how disgusted I am with the government at the municipal and provincial level that we are supposed to be cool that we live like this.
I realise as the International News just starts others have more serious issues to deal with so maybe I should just get off the cross, someone might need the wood.
