My New Lunch Cooler
I just got my new lunch cooler (Crew Cooler) today, I have been anxiously awaiting it's arrival for a couple weeks now.
Everyone at work that has one just RAVES about it so I thought I would jump on that band wagon and see if I could pack more food in it and actually keep myself away from malnutrition while I am on the road.
I have discovered that in order for me to be civil to those around me I need to eat when I get up in the morning. Now this is not something, I have to admit, that I do on a regular basis.
I am still accustom to working by myself at home where my interaction with others is via e-mail and sadly I pretty much just drink coffee until I actually am shaking from the caffeine high and the blood sugar low. (Ya okay so I am not that bright but I am cute!)
However; there has been a side effect from eating first thing in the morning. It kicks my metabolism into high-gear and I just can't seem to keep up with my hunger. I constantly feel like I am starving!
So I did some grocery shopping, in the hopes of finding some GOOD eats and of course eat reasonably healthy. I was hungry when I went (because you guessed it I was working from home today and just had coffee up to that point) and I ended up buying too much stuff.
This is what I managed to get in my new Crew Cooler;
- Oatmeal bars
- Instant oatmeal
- All Bran bars
- Almonds
- Corn Nuts (unsalted of course)
- Salty/Sweet granola bars
- Gatorade crystals
- Vanilla yogurt
- Riccotta cheese
- Extra old cheddar cheese
- Turkey Ukranian sausage
- Spinich Dip
- Wasa extra rye bread
- Black bean & salsa tortillas
- Steak strips (pepper & garlic rub then finished in a balsamic reduction)
- Chicken strips (coated in cinnamon, curry, garlic and brown sugar)
- Brown rice
So the plan is to make wraps;
- Steak, spinich dip and the extra old cheddar
- Chicken, riccotta and rice
and munch on the rest of the stuff....luckily I still have room for 2 of my freezer blocks to keep everything fresh and cool during the day.
Sadly I am going to be gone for 5 days and I really hate eating left overs so I am not sure how well this is going to work. I am hoping my other crew members bring good stuff and we can do a buffet in the back galley.
I am really disappointed that I have to leave behind my salad, cherry tomatoes and wickedly super-sweet strawberries.
BTW this is where I got my Crew Cooler from; and I am going to be buying more stuff here too....
