My Lovely Long Weekend!

ADDED an UPDATE below

I was going to say that this weekend sucked ass but that could be a good thing, then I thought I would say that this weekend blows but that could be a good thing too - so basically its just been a shitty weekend. That is something I am definitely not into!

I was supposed to go to work on Saturday but Thursday night I started to feel not so hot, or rather I was starting to feel really hot and dizzy and my ears had still not «popped» from my flight in earlier that day.

Sure enough when I woke up Friday morning, full on fever, the bed was drenched with sweat, I had wicked vertigo, a KILLER headache, almost migraine level, and couldn't swallow.

So I got myself to the doctor, which was a funny site to see I am sure. I probably looked like I was drunk walking down the hall, hugging the wall, as the builiding was spinning around me. Oh yeah and the stairs - not so much fun!

So I finally get in to see the doctor and he takes one look in my ears and makes that «sucking in through your teeth» noise and says «Oh boy!»

He looks down my throat and bites his lip!

Okay give it to me doc, do I have ebola?

So his diagnosis, my throat is a bit red and both my inner ears are infected with fluid behind my ear drums which is causing me ear drums to bluge.

Now I used to have a lot of ear aches as a kid, mostly swimmers ear. But never had I been in this much pain and discomfort.

So he gives me a cocktail of medications to help fight the infections. Anti-biotic & steroid drops for my ears (oh that is a fucking blast to do by yourself), oral anti-biotics and then tells me to take a decongestant (ibupfrofen based) every 4 hours and extra strength Tylenol every 4 hours, 2 hours after I take the decongestant.

He also grounded my from flying until the 5th of September as to allow the medications to take affect and keep me from blowing my ear drums,
Oh and he said triple up on your vitamins. It definitely will not hurt.

OK after all those pills I have NO appetite left, I feel like I have been at the all-you-can-eat buffet!

So I am just talking to my sister (she is a nurse) and she made me look down my throat for anything and well I found a hole bunch of new gunk - and she is convinced it is strep throat.

So of course being a computer junkie I grabed my flashlight and web cam to show her! Her response, «EW» that is GROSS! Then she said, «Jay I have never seen one that big!»

Gee thanks! (mind you if it had not been my sister and some hot sexy guy, maybe by the name of Moby «wink wink», that said, «Jay I have never seen one that big!» Then that might make me happy!

UPDATE

So my sister came and took me to the doctor. I really have to say I appreciate that gesture so much, not only did she drive all the way across the city she saved me from being the only NORMAL person in the waiting area. I want to call those people that were in the waiting area «trash» but trash gets taken out, so we will call them «dishes» because NOBODY ever wants to do dishes.

So when the doctor came into the exam room, we chatted about the visit I had 2 days prior and what had been happening since.

So he took a peek in my ears, which, he said are looking better and ya they do feel a little bit better. Then he fondled my glands, I mean the glands in my neck, raised and eyebrow and stated they were pretty swollen! (MMMM swollen glans, again not always a bad thing!).

Then he grabbed his little light and a tounge drepressor, now I am pretty good and sinking my tongue out of the way. [Insert nasty comment here if you like].

He had barely flashed the light into my throat when he jumped back, made the funniest face and said, «omigod». My sister and I burst out laughing.

So now I have 2 more «subscriptions» a penicilin and a throat rinse to numb the pain of the strep throat. Of course he took a swab because that is normal procedure, but he said, «If that isn't strep you better call NASA.»

OK doc dude has a sense of humour - I appreciate that!

But he is sending me for blood work suspecting that i have «mono»; however, here is the problem with that - I forgot about that memo that only losers get sick on a long weekend! So no labs are open when my sister and I can both go. (She has to get blood work done as well and funny enough we enjoy each other's company)

So I have to wait for Tuesday night to go, but I have popsicles to keep me busy until then and I can't tell you how excited I am about that!

OK gotta run, while my troat is numb I gotta guzzle a whole bunch of fluids because I am constantly sweating. I mean I have to change 4 times a day because my clothes get drenched in sweat! Needless to say I haven't had to pee in a while!
