i love to save money
Which means that I only end up spending it elsewhere but getting more bang for my buck does make for a happy turnipHed.
I tried to get a nap in this afternoon, because the plan was that I was going to operate the flight back to Calgary then sit around for 3 hours and then catch the red eye back home, which would mean I would not get home until about 0800 tomorrow.1
However, I picked up a trip from Calgary to New York and back on Saturday so that is going to add some extra cash, much needed I might add, to my pocket.
So I am going to be staying at my sister's again tonight and then spend the day bumming around her place tomorrow, fly on Saturday then do the super long day and catch the red-eye back home for Sunday morning.
So while I was not sleeping I did some research into a new service offered by my mobile provider that would use Wi-Fi as well as GSM for making phone calls.
So if I am at home and use Wi-Fi I won't be using my plan's minutes, as well as if I am connected to any Wi-Fi network! Woohoo. This is going to save me at least $50 a month.
It does mean that I need to get a new phone, but I am cool with that, will only take 3 months of saving this $50 to recuperate the cost, plus the phone I have now I am not that happy with anymore and the battery is starting to die on me which to replace would cost me $50.
Another added bonus is that I needed to replace my wireless router at home; and now I get one for free and a much better router than I was looking at!
So the afternoon has gotten away on me and of course NOW I feel like a nap, however, I am excited to get back to Calgary and head to the store tomorrow morning and get my new phone and router!
Off to get ready for work...
turnipHed Foot Notes...
- So basically from the shuttle time at the hotel, 1730, until 0800 the next day, I would be on the go.↩

Sounds like you'll have to spend money to save money. I'm nothing but a sucker (no comment, please) for new toys, phones, etc. I REALLy have to use my restraint to not look all of the time. And I haven't heard of that WiFi deal for making phone calls....we probably don't have it here in way backwards America.

The phone is going to cost me about $150 so in approx. 3 months I will have recouped, plus getting the router for free saves me about $125 from buying a router that I need anyway -- so I guess my left pocket will be slowly putting money in my right pocket....
