Clueless But Happy
OK so I was having problems with my readers not being able to comment. It seems that the WP-Cache plugin I was using was the culprit. So bye bye WP-Cache! I also got rid of the registration confirmation plugin I was using. However, now in looking back looks like it might not have been the problem but I don’t have enough traffic or false registrations yet so I am not going to worry about it now.
One thing that has not been working all that well is the password protection for the posts. Seems that FireFox1 caches the page/post when it is protected so when you enter the password the page refreshes from the cache; not the server. So try hitting CTRL F5 and see if that works.
While you do that I am going to be installing the plugin that Moby uses for his blog and protecting his posts.
Now here comes the reason why I am clueless and happy at the same time. My "Blog Follow" plugin all of a sudden started working. From now on when you post a comment on my blog and you have a blog yourself and have the URL in your profile,2 an excerpt of your latest post will show up along with your comment.

That is it for now.

Thanks - gotta say so am I big time - now I am kind of afraid of adding another plugin!
Here I thought that the Blog Follow plugin wasn't working for you but then I realised your URL is not directed at your blog so phew!
Panic averted.

I have been unable to comment for sometime as it would not let me log in even though I had it send me a new password. After a few tries today, it seems to be working again.
Limiting comments to only registered users seems a bit of overkill IMHO. Using capthca or sp@m karma 2 to control unwanted spam seems a better move. SK2 catches about 99% of my fake comments/pings/trackbacks these days and allows about the same percentage of real comments thru. I am VERY pleased with it.
I restrict posts via a category blocker on my blog only because some posts are not safe for my coworkers to read. ;-P

OK well I have installed sp@m karma 2 - I was hesitant because the site states under requirements «WordPress: SK2 requires at least WP 1.5.1 (or up). It is compatible with all versions of Wordpress up to the latest release (2.1).»
That made me nervous, but I have installed it and will give it a try.
Thusly, logging in is no longer required. I was kind of thinking that it would kill 2 birds with one stone.
Firstly, cut down on SPAM, secondly save the commenter from having to fill out the fields all the time.
I had the same reservation about it (overkill) and since it has been mentioned and someone else thinks the same thing = changed it!
